How you can know God?
The central theme of the Bible is GOD’S LOVE for you as an individual! This love was revealed when Jesus Christ came into the world. He was born of a virgin, lived among people like YOU AND ME, died on the cross for our sins, and then rose from the dead on the third day. Through Christ’s death, God offered to you FORGIVENESS for your sins, and through His resurrection he offered the promise of EVERLASTING LIFE. The only way for you to have a personal relationship with Christ is to accept God’s gift of forgiveness and everlasting life.
The following Bible verses show you how you can KNOW GOD. Read each verse and BELIEVE what it says, for it is the Word of God!
God’s Love is Revealed
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
GOD LOVES YOU! He wants to bless your life and make it full and complete. He offers to you not only an abundant life here and now, but a life which is eternal too.
Mankind is Sinful
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
According to the Bible, sin is:
Failure to be what God wants us to be.
Failure to do what God wants us to do.
We have all sinned. Consciously or unconsciously, we have rebelled against God.
Sin Has a Penalty
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is Eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23
To continue in sin will result in spiritual death, which is separation from God forever. The alternative is to repent of your sin and personally receive God’s free gift, which is forgiveness and eternal life.
Christ Paid the Penalty
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
“That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.” – 1 Corinthians 15:3
You may think you must lead a “good” life and do good deeds before God will love you. This is NOT so. God loves you even in your sin. He sent Christ to die in your place and to pay the penalty for your sin so that you could be brought into a right relationship with Him.
Salvation is a FREE Gift
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” – Ephesians 2:8,9
You may think that you are a Christian because you have always tried to be a good person, but you could never do enough to deserve God’s free gift. Grace means undeserved favor. You do not, and cannot, work for a gift. All you need to do is receive it.
We Must Receive Christ
“Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” – John 1:12
When you receive Jesus into your life, you become a child of God for all eternity.
Receive Christ Now!
You can invite Jesus Christ into your life right now by praying to God a prayer of repentance like this (say it out loud, and mean it from your heart):
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died on the cross in my place to pay the penalty for my sin and that He rose from the dead. I now repent of my sins and invite Jesus to come into my life to be my Savior and Lord. Thank you for saving me and making me Your child. Amen.
Promises from the Bible
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” – Romans 10:13
